There are so many things to write about concerning my recent trip to the Madrid Zoo/Aquarium that I hardly know where to start! I saw Madrid's new couple, Bing Xing and Hua Zuiba, three times during my four days in Madrid, and met two top officials from Chengdu, including the director of the Chengdu Giant Panda Research Base, Dr. Zhang Zhihe. But here's a short funny tidbit for now.
When I met the Chengdu officials, accompanying them was a Chinese journalist, who interviewed me for a story to appear in the Chinese press about their trip to Madrid and the people they encountered there. The story appeared on November 29: China's Giant Pandas in Madrid touted. Those visiting from Chengdu seemed very interested that I would come from the United States from Madrid to visit pandas, calling me a "Superfan." They issued a warm welcome for me to visit Chengdu, so I can't wait to make that happen!
