When a four-month old giant panda cub made its first public appearance at the maternity ward at Chongqing Zoo in southern China earlier this week, adoring visitors pushed forward eagerly to see the latest precious addition. The healthy baby panda, who is helping one of the world's most endangered species make a comeback, had already escaped death after its mother Ya Ya rolled over in her sleep and flattened its twin when only two days old.
